What is the benefit of in-home pet sitting?
As pet owners, we know the feeling of scrambling to find someone trustworthy and knowledgeable to care for our furry family while we're away on vacation or visiting friends and family. While there are many excellent kennels here in Pitt County, some pets need another option. A pet sitter allows your pets to stay in their own home, sleep in their own bed, and enjoy the normal scents and sounds of home while
you're away. Many pets are comforted by a consistent routine at home when their parents are away. This simple act can greatly reduce separation anxiety, especially for those of us who have nervous or fearful animals.
The one-on-one care given by a pet sitter is second to none. When you go on a trip or vacation, wouldn’t you rather have the sense of security that comes with knowing that a trusted, local professional is caring for your animals with love and compassion in the comfort of your own home? That you have the additional peace of mind that comes with knowing someone is there to keep an eye on your
pets and your home, to water your plants and bring in the mail, to rotate the lights and blinds to give your home that lived-in look, without the burden of imposing on friends and family? Well, you’ve come to the right place.
We pet sit 7 days a week, 365 days a year, rain-snow-shine.
What types of pets benefit from in-home pet sitting?
- Cats in particular are not as social as our canine companions and exhibit stress when away from their home environment. They generally like to keep to a strict routine where things don't change much.
- We have found that dogs that are timid, shy or fearful around other dogs and people are able to bond with a pet sitter in the calming environment of their own home. They get the focused one-on-one attention that can be lost in other pet care alternatives.
- Homes that have multiple pets and/or a variety of different pets.
- Caged pets or fish are good candidates for pet sitting for the obvious reasons of travel restrictions, etc.
- If you have a pet that requires medication or is diabetic and requires shots.
- We know from years of experience with all types of pets that every pet is one that will benefit from having a professional pet sitter care for them.
What does a visit with my pet consist of?
- We will go through your routine with you at the time of the consult. We try to do things just like you do so your pets stay in their routine while your away. Each 30 minute visit can include...

- Provide food and fresh water.
- Clean up litter boxes, pee pads, crate, or any mess.
- Clean around feeding areas, sinks, etc.
- Give medications if necessary.
- Water house plants, flip blinds, and bring in newspapers and mail.
- Feed fish, reptiles, birds, etc.
- Leave notes to let you know how things went during our visit.
Who will be taking care of my pets?
Our team is currently made up of Heather, Robbie, and Kayla. We try our best to train everyone at your house in case of emergency with one or more of us. For more information on our pet sitters click Here.
What are your rates or holiday fees?
Our standard rate is $20 per visit and is non-negotiable. We also have a holiday fee of $25 in addition to our normal pet sitting rate. The holiday surcharge is in addition to normal pet sitting rates.
How long are the visits and when are they conducted?

- Lunch rounds starts at 11:00am until 2:30pm
- Afternoon rounds starts at 3:00pm until 6:00pm
- Bedtime rounds starts at 9:00pm through midnight.

How do I get started?
- Schedule an initial consult. Contact Heather at 252-341-3024 or email her at yoheatherb@gmail.com to setup a time to meet with us. The initial consultation should take approximately 30 minutes. During this time we will go over your paperwork with you and do a walk through of your feeding and care routine.
- Complete the client forms prior to our initial consultation. Download our three forms at the bottom of our Rates/Forms page and fill them out completely before our consultation. The forms contain general information about your pets and emergency information for your Veterinarian.
- Have a copy of your house key ready. We keep all of our keys in a secure locked area and our records locked in a seperate area. We put the name of your pets along with your last name on the key tag and try to disguise unusual last names. We do this to ensure that the key will be useless to anyone other than us if it ever got lost for any reason.
- Have a copy of your Vet records on hand. We do not need a copy for our records since most vets keep records on hand. We need to see that your pet has had all of their vaccinations or what they are old enough to have had. We realize that puppies and kittens are still getting their shots so we just need to see your up to date records. This step is mostly a precaution so we know we are not carrying any viruses etc. from house to house.
